Mila // designer, mother
Mila learned to knit at a very young age. Growing up on a farm in Bosnia and Hercegovina, she and her sisters knit socks and slippers for their family of eight. After immigrating to Canada in the late 1960s, Mila continued to knit for herself and her family, only by then, she knit fashionable sweaters as a stay-at-home mom of five children. She loved colour and patterns and her advanced skill made it possible for her to knit almost anything she imagined, even her most complex designs. Mila passed away in 2008, leaving behind dozens of knitted treasures. Those close to her remember her as a happy, loving woman who was always knitting.
Sandra // founder, daughter
Sandra grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. Although she never considered an entrepreneurial path for herself, that changed when she inherited her mother's beautiful hand-knit sweaters. To honour her mom and share her amazing designs with friends, Sandra set out to create a knitwear line inspired by Mila's colourful knits. Armed with degrees in Commerce and Economics, fashion buying and styling experience and sheer will, Sandra put together a thoughtful FW16 capsule collection to introduce MILA ZOVKO to the world. She is proud to offer a modern interpretation of her mother's beautiful sweaters and hopes you find them beautiful too.
